IT4Science Days 2026 — Agentic AI in Practice
Hands-on Workshop (3h) with Christian Uhl (Zentrum für angewandte Informatik und Data Science, Universität Gießen) at the IT4Science Days 2026, Manfred-Eigen-Saal, MPI-NAT Göttingen — Wednesday, 30 September 2026. Streamed and recorded; the recording is published via the Indico entry.
Theme: Agentic AI in Practice — From Spec to Production Workflow. The common thread is a pyramid: Specification · Contract · Tests. After an update on current foundation models (reasoning models, 1M+ token context, MCP, the open-source cost collapse) and the toolbox of agent harnesses (OpenCode, pi, zot, OpenSpec, local models via Ollama/vLLM), two hands-on applications contrasted the same research topic: first directly agent-driven without a spec — the baseline experience, a pile of unverified hits — then spec-driven on the skeleton-research demo repo, where papers.yaml is the spec, the pipeline the contract, and CI the test: weekly paper discovery (arXiv, OpenAlex, dblp, Crossref, EuropePMC), validation, and a searchable paper browser deployed to GitHub Pages. Every participant left with their own CI-validated research repo and a self-written, implemented spec change.
